Elephant Festival

The Elephant Festival is the yearly cultural highlight of Kyaukse where the whole town competes for the best elephant dance performance as well as the best decorated life-size paper elephant. The elephant dance is performed by which two men would get inside the life-size hollowed-out paper elephant figure and imitate the movements of a real elephant.

Shwezigon Festival
Date: 5 – 20 November 2008
Venue: Bagan

The Shwezigon pagoda is a well-known monument in Myanmar and the Shwezigon Festival is dedicated to celebrate its religious significance. Visitors can expect to see a variety of entertainment such as dances, songs, plays and enjoy movies in an open-air cinema.

Fire Balloon Festival (Taunggyi)
Date: 6 – 12 Nov 08
Venue: Taunggyi

Keep your eyes on the sky as hundreds of hot air balloons of all shapes and sizes rise into the air. Spot the different forms of hot air balloons, including animals such as elephants, horse, cattle and even mythical creatures. In the night, the sky would be transformed into a stage for a spectacular fireworks display.
