Bintan Mangrove Day Tour & Bintan Traditional Fishing Tour with Local Lunch

Embark on a boating journey down the river and experience the wildlife within the mangrove forest. Keep a lookout for mangrove snakes, monkeys, monitor lizards and the kingfisher. As the river meander further south, look out for the orang laut (sea gypsies) and kelongs (house built on stilts over water) as well as traditional charcoal kilns and static fishing traps.

Enjoy a ride in a sampan on the calm waters of the Sebung River and test your skills against local fishing men. Try to cast the jala (casting net) into the river or fish with the bubu (traditional fish trap). If all else fail, just sit back and observe the amazing techniques of the local fishing men.

Explore the traditional Indonesian Kampung (local village) of Sri Bintan and get a glimpse into the daily lifestyle of the villagers. There are lots to look out for so do keep your eyes peeled. See how the local women weave pandan leaves into handbags or hats; discover how the local blacksmith create agricultural tools from scrap metal; and even try your hands at rubber tapping at the rubber plantation. While trekking in the kampung, you may even come across exotic fruits such as the durian and rambutan.

 
Gunung Bintan Adventure Trek

Discover Bintan’s rainforest and enjoy fantastic views from the summit of Mount Bintan at 340 metres above sea level in this hike. During the hike, lookout for giant trees that are above 40 metres in height and rare animals such as the sliver leaf monkeys, sun birds and even eagles. You will also learn about the many different practical uses of plants and the local legend of the ‘princess pool’. A visit to the waterfall where locals believed bathing in it would bring good luck is a must.
